Heather Toland, Director for the Dove Lewis
Animal Assisted Therapy and Education (DLAATE) program, assumed
this position in June of 2001. The DLAATE program, first started
in 1987, is one of three community outreach programs that support
the Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital's mission to promote
the human/non-human animal bond. Dove Lewis Emergency Animal
Hospital is a non-profit organization that provides emergency
and critical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a

Prior to her current position, Heather taught in the Biology
Department at Portland Community College-Rock Creek Campus.
She lives in Tualatin, OR with her husband, Jack, two cats,
Nuddie and Bugs and cockatiel, Arnold. Spider, her Morgan gelding,
